Talking to House of Lords

I spoke to the Maritime Trust that administers the Gloriana, and was told that my proposal had gone to the Chairman…but I heard nothing back, and the Commonwealth Games are fast approaching.

My research showed that Lord Sterling had commissioned the barge as a gift for The Queens Diamond Jubilee. He has a page on the House of Lords website – there was a phone number…..

“House of Lords.. I’m afraid no one is in Lord Sterling’s office at the moment, can I take a message?”

When a member of his staff called back, it became clear that they had heard nothing about my proposal – wheels went into motion…

The Chairman phoned me, and to my surprise, he didn’t immediately say that the whole idea was preposterous.. We discussed transport, the barge is 14 feet wide, so road transport is difficult, it would likely come around the coast on a larger boat.
The board are considering it.

We wait…

Very interested in this, can someone contact me to discuss. I am the secretary of a club who race fixed seat coastal rowing boats on the Clyde and have contacts in London who may be able to add some weight to the application. Also involved with the Scottish Coastal Rowing Association who I am sure would be very interested in helping to bring this about.
